Today Mrs. Dawson will be out from 3:30-4:00 or 4:15. Mr. Barber will be here to get the Battle of the Books Team Started. Please follow these instructions:

3:30- 3:45pm - Bathroom, snack, get laptop, check out books, and find a comfortable spot to read.

3:45-4:15 - Silent Reading

4:15-4:45 - Get into your book groups and come up with 10 good questions as a group starting with
In which book.......? No not name the book and post questions to IN WHICH BOOK on the wiki.

4:45-4:55 - post comment on the blog about the book you are reading.
4:55 Log off of the computers and put your computer in the cart PLUGGED IN. Clean up area! THANKS!

The Outsiders

Mr. Barber recommended this at the Book Fair. I started to read this book last week. It saddens me that the main characters parents died. I can't imagine how hard it would be to lost both parents at the same time. I wonder if his older brother feels obligated to raise him. Post your comments on The Outsider!!!

Schooled

I just started reading this book last week and so far think that students in middle school sometimes judge someone by how they look. Cap Anderson is the main character. His grandmother, Rain, is his guardian and becomes hospitalized. Rain has home schooled Cap in a sheltered environment. A family in the outside community offers to have Cap live with them and go to the local public school. He's never seen a locker in his life. Can you imagine? He wonders why we have to lock away our lives? I'm enjoying this book. Can you related to any of the characters?

Introduction to Battle of the Books

Hi! I'm Mrs. Dawson your Media Coordinator at SAMS. I'm thrilled that you are interested in being part of this years Battle of the Books Team. I started enjoying books at your age. My favorite was Gone With the Wind. I like comparing books to movies, however, I always seem to enjoy the books more. I guess it's because I create how I think the characters should look in my mind and when the film is made the character never seems to be just right. In addition, the movies don't seem to add alot of the details you get from reading. Let's have a great year and make the BOB fun!!! My first book that I'm reading is Schooled.
